The Story of Barrister
In the UK, a barrister is an attorney who advocates for clients in court, similar to a litigator in the American system. The “barrister” of Barrister College Advising is a former litigator who now manages legal matters for a large corporation.
Several years ago, with his oldest daughter getting closer to college, he set out to learn how the modern college admissions process works — how to find colleges where she would thrive, how to gain admission, and how to pay for it on a budget.
Using the knowledge gained, his daughter was admitted to a number of colleges, including both selective private colleges and large public universities, that were affordable on the family’s budget after scholarships and financial aid. She chose Rice University and has never looked back!
Hearing the story, friends and acquaintances began to ask questions about the admissions process, which led to more questions from their friends and acquaintances, which led to slide presentations about college admissions for groups of parents. Some eventually asked for further assistance on an individual basis, and Barrister College Advising was born.
